The Future of International Administrative Law: Harmonization? Fragmentation? Dialogue?

Description:

FINAL 24 HOURS TO REGISTER!

International administrative law—the law governing employment relations of international civil servants—is a growing presence on the international legal landscape. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the International Monetary Fund Administrative Tribunal, scholars and practitioners will convene to consider recent developments in the field. What factors contribute to the harmonization of international administrative law? What developments promote its diversification? Which threaten its fragmentation? Is there a dialogue emerging among international administrative tribunals, national courts, and supranational courts on the employment rights of international civil servants and the accountability of the intergovernmental organizations that employ them? How does the law of the international civil service compare with national regimes governing employment relations? These are among the topics to be addressed by tribunal judges, counsel for applicants and organizations, and academic experts as they consider the future of international administrative law. This event is presented in collaboration with the American Society of International Law, the International Law Association, and the American Branch of the International Law Association.
