Between Aspirations and Realities: Strengthening the Legal Framework of the OSCE

Description:

The Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law is pleased to announce an international conference entitled “Between Aspirations and Realities: Strengthening the Legal Framework of the OSCE,” which will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, in the Harnack-Haus of the Max Planck Society in Berlin. The event aims to provide a new impetus to the debate on the legal status and institutional framework of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). So far, the discussions concerning the unresolved question of the organization’s legal personality have been framed by political considerations brought forward by the OSCE participating States at the high political level, and drafted by expert bodies and working groups within the organization. The aim of this conference is to open up the debate to a broader international audience, composed of international scholars and practitioners, civil society organizations and media representatives.
