The International Law Association (Australian Branch) is proud to host the biennial ILA Conference. The ILA was established in 1873, with the belief that international law is key to peace, justice and development in a globalised world. The Biennial ILA Conference addresses emerging international law issues through the work of its Committees and discusses these in detail through its parallel program. The theme for the 2018 ILA Conference is “Developing International Law in Challenging Times”. There are a myriad of international challenges facing global society—sharpening economic divides, nationalist assertions of boundaries, climate change, cycles of war and poverty, new uses of technology. The Conference will address diverse cutting-edge issues in international law as part of its ongoing study of international law, as well as through dialogue on pressing questions of public and private international law.
