The Cultural Heritage and the Arts Interest Group (CHAIG) invites members and interested individuals to a webinar exploring the protection of cultural heritage from the threats of illicit trafficking.
This webinar will bring together leading scholars in the field and key contributors from the American region to the recently published Oxford Commentary on the 1970 UNESCO and 1995 UNIDROIT Conventions on Stolen or Illegally Transferred Cultural Property (Oxford University Press, 2024). It will also offer an important opportunity to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the adoption of the 1970 UNESCO Convention and the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the 1995 UNIDROIT Convention.
The discussion will be broad, with panelists asked to provide an overview of the merits, achievements and challenges of the treaties discussed in the Oxford Commentary. Insights shared by three experts will be followed by a Q&A session.
