What to Expect from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) Agreements

Description:

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) Agreements currently are the most critical components of the United States’ trade agenda. This timely event will survey the main interests at stake in these negotiations, what economic benefits the draft agreements are expected to deliver for the US and its trading partners, and what they mean for multilateral negotiations at the World Trade Organization (WTO). The briefing will also examine the US domestic political implications for entering into these agreements, including the likelihood of Congress passing a “fast track” authority. While the TTP and TTIP negotiations have generated considerable controversy in civil society, the objective of this event is not to set a debate about the value of the agreements, but rather to convey factual information and expert analysis about the content and prospects of the agreements.
