At the 2024 COP 29 conference in Azerbaijan, developed countries pledged to commit $300 billion annually by 2035 to support climate action by developing countries, and potentially mobilize $1.3 trillion in climate finance. Yet, questions remain as to how developing countries can access these funds.

The American Society of International Law (ASIL) Government Attorneys Interest Group (GAIG), in conjunction with the International Law Association (Singapore Branch) (ILA-SG), invites all ASIL and ILA-SG members, and the public, to join us for an informative discussion. The discussion will explore how effective multilateral efforts have been in mobilizing climate finance, in particular by tapping into opportunities for partnership with the private sector to scale impact. It will also examine other mechanisms intended to support climate action by developing countries, such as capacity building and technology transfer, and their ability to meet climate adaptation and mitigation challenges.
