The ICJ Climate Change Advisory Opinion Proceedings: Preliminary Reflections from the Asia-Pacific [1]
The pending Obligations of States in Respect of Climate Change Advisory Opinion before the International Court of Justice has witnessed a surge in State participation, with 96 countries and 11 regional organizations taking part in the public hearings from 2-13 of December 2024. This included many Asia-Pacific States. The region will face severe climate change impacts, particularly Small Island Developing States whose very survival is at stake. This webinar explores Asia-Pacific perspectives on the Advisory Opinion proceedings, bringing together experts on climate law as well as those who participated in the oral hearings and written statements to discuss the participation of Asia-Pacific States in these important proceedings.
