A Century of Abolition Under International Law [1]
This panel marks the centennial of the adoption of the 1926 Slavery Convention. Panelists will discuss the role of international law in preventing and suppressing slavery and the slave trade over the past century to the present day. The panel will also discuss the significance of ASIL's 2025 Resolution upholding international law on slavery and the slave trade. Several BASIL members will lead the discussion, bridging historical precedents with efforts to combat modern forms of slavery and the slave trade.
