Raising the Cost of Aggression on Russia: Sanctions, Assets, Tribunal, and Beyond [1]

Date:
Tuesday, June 4, 2024 - 1:00pm to 2:30pm
Description:

Mr. Erki Kodar, the Undersecretary for Legal and Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will introduce Estonia's steps to hold Russia responsible for the damage caused by its aggression in Ukraine. The Estonian parliament recently adopted a law creating a mechanism to ensure the property liability of the aggressor state for the damage caused by serious violations of international law. Estonia is participating in the joint investigation team of the European Union (JIT) and the International Centre for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine (ICPA) to collect evidence of the crime of aggression committed by Russia in Ukraine
and ensure that Russia’s crimes do not go unpunished. Estonia also supports the investigation of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
