Corporate Social Responsibility and The Critical Role of the Lawyer [1]

Date:
Thursday, February 5, 2015 - 1:30pm to 4:50pm
Description:

While it may have once been the case that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fell outside the purview of lawyers, the same does not hold true today. As corporate clients become more sophisticated with increasing and diverse stakeholders, so must the advice that lawyers provide with respect to risk management and compliance. Clients from a broad range of industry sectors are increasingly turning to their legal advisers to provide advice on a range of issues related to CSR, whether based on "voluntary" codes or not, such as supply chain compliance strategies, corporate governance, labour issues, bribery, corruption and whistleblowing.  Attend this program to hear from our expert faculty including leading practitioners and academics, all at the forefront of this developing area of law. They will provide you with critical CSR developments, internationally and domestically, with a focus on how they impact your clients and the advice you provide them. This program is sponsored by the Ontario Bar Association.
