UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet: “Challenges to the Protection of Human Rights in the 21st Century and the Role of the United Nations”

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights was established in 1993. On September 1, 2018 Michelle Bachelet assumed her functions as the seventh United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. Ms. Bachelet will speak on the “Challenges to the Protection of Human Rights in the 21st Century and the Role of the United Nations.” Welcoming Remarks provided by Senior Associate Dean Brenda Smith. Introduction provided by Professor and Dean Emeritus Claudio Grossman. A short reception will follow. The event is co-sponsored by the International Law Student Association of WCL; the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law; the Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law; and the American University International Law Review. The event will be covered by the Human Rights Brief and published by American University International Law Review.
