(ASIL) American Society of International Law

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR:

This is our first Newsletter to be issued under the redesignated group name "UN 21." Member Martha Trofimenko suggested this new title, at a business meeting of this ASIL Interest Group two years ago. The ASIL Executive Council accepted our recommended name change last Fall--and our continued existence, because of our dedication to the principles of the UN Decade, which are restated below. Our group is now a "point person" in the Society's campaign for achieving the objectives of the officially expired ten-year UN Decade of International Law--which remain the starting point for like efforts in the new millennium.

Cornell Law School has graciously consented to continue hosting our web site, which carries all of our Newsletters, since their inception in 1992. Also, San Francisco-based e-Groups.com continues to support our work by its hosting our online web site and e-mail system for exchanging late, breaking developments of interest to our members.
