Transnational National Judicial Dialogue

Through formal and informal networks, judges from jurisdictions and courts around the world are engaged in a transnational dialogue on strengthening international judicial cooperation, improving the coherence of international and national law, and advancing the rule of law and respect for human dignity on a global scale.

The growth and expansion of this dialogue over time has facilitated the development of shared professional values, promoted the use of best practices for ensuring judicial independence, accountability, and efficiency, and given rise to international norms such as those found in the Bangalore Principles on
Judicial Conduct.

As part of its judicial education efforts, ASIL facilitates transnational judicial dialogue on current challenges facing judges and judiciaries through conferences, study tours, exchanges, and other programmatic activity and resources.

ASIL also co-sponsors the annual International Humanitarian Law Dialogs, which brings together current and past prosecutors of international criminal tribunals, including former prosecutors who were present at Nuremberg, to lead discussions concerning international humanitarian law and prosecuting genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.
