Immediately following her graduation from the University of Chicago Law School in 1986, Lyonette Louis-Jacques began work at the University of Minnesota Law Library, where she taught courses on American as well as foreign and international legal research until 1992 when she returned to the University of Chicago to begin her current position. Ms. Louis-Jacques is the co-founder (with Mila Rush) of INT-LAW on MAJORDOMO@LISTHOST.CIESIN.ORG, an electronic conference for the discussion of issues related to foreign, comparative, and international legal (FCIL) resources (http://listhost.ciesin.org/lists/public/int-law/). She is on the editorial board of The Internet Lawyer (http://www.internetlawyer.com/), the author of "Law Lists" (http://www.lib.uchicago.edu/~llou/lawlists/info.html), a guide to law-related electronic mailing lists and Usenet newsgroups, the "Lists, Newsgroups & Networks" (http://www.asil.org/resource/lists1.htm) chapter of the ASIL Guide to Electronic Resources for International Law (http://www.asil.org/resource/home.htm), the International Calendar (http://www.iall.org/calendar/show.asp) column of the International Journal of Legal Information, and co-editor (with Jeanne Korman) of Introduction to International Organizations (Oceana, 1996). Ms. Louis-Jacques is a member of the Committee on Electronic Technologies (CET) of the American Society of International Law (ASIL)(http://www.asil.org) and the Advisory Committee on Communications of the International Association of Law Libraries (IALL)(http://www.iall.org). 

Her current research interests include use of the Internet by law faculty, students, and librarians worldwide, and techniques for teaching FCIL research. She has written articles and lectured on researching human rights law, international trade law, sources on careers in international law, legal resources on the Internet generally and for international law (http://www.lib.uchicago.edu/~llou/forintlaw.html), and the virtual law library. One of her more recent publications is "Gaps in International Legal Literature," in the Chicago Journal of International Law (CJIL at http://cjil.uchicago.edu). 

Ms. Louis-Jacques is an active member of the American Association of Law Libraries (including service as chair of the AALL Foreign, Comparative, and International Law Special Interest Section, 1994-95 and the Computing Services Special Interest Section, 1999-2000, and participation in the AALL Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals Advisory Committee)(http://www.aallnet.org/), the International Association of Law Libraries (http://www.iall.org/), the American Society of International Law (http://www.asil.org/), the Canadian Council on International Law (http://www.ccil-ccdi.ca/), the American Bar Association (http://www.abanet.org/), and several other national and international law and library associations. She is a member of the Illinois Bar and on the Board of the University of Chicago Human Rights Program (http://humanrights.uchicago.edu) and the University of Minnesota Human Rights Center (http://www1.umn.edu/humanrts/hrcenter.htm).
