Biography
Jean M. Wenger

Jean began working at the Cook County Law Library (Chicago), one of the largest U.S. practitioner law libraries, as a Reference Librarian. She was appointed Chief Foreign and International Law Librarian in 1993. In 1995 she moved to the Cornell Law Library where she was the Reference Librarian focusing on foreign and international law. At Cornell, she was also an instructor in the first year legal research curriculum, Collection Development Coordinator for an extensive print and electronic collection, and research liaison for the Cornell International Law Journal. 

Jean returned to the Cook County Law Library in 1997 as Government Documents/ Foreign & International Law Librarian. Jean has authored a number of web-based foreign and international law research guides and has spoken at professional conferences and State Bar Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs on electronic research, and foreign and international law research. She is the author of International Commercial Arbitration: Locating the Resources and New Horizons: Resources for International Competition Law Research on LLRX.com.  She is a contributing author to the ASIL-sponsored Electronic Information System for International Law (EISIL) (http://www.eisil.org).

Jean earned her B.A. from St. Mary’s of Minnesota, J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, and M.L.I.S. from Rosary College (Dominican University). She is admitted to the state bar of Illinois and is active in the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA). Before entering law school, Jean worked as a foreign banknote trader in Chicago. She has studied in Italy, Germany, and Wales. 

Jean is active in the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) (http://www.aallnet.org). From 1995-1998, she served on the Editorial Advisory Committee for the Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals. She served as Chair of the Foreign, Comparative and International Special Interest Section, FCIL SIS  (http://www.aallnet.org/sis/fcilsis/) of AALL  from 2003-2004.
