Government Attorneys

Description:

The Government Attorneys Interest Group will provide a forum for the discussion of international legal issues of particular interest to international lawyers or other foreign affairs professionals working for the United States Government or other governments (including diplomats posted to embassies or missions in Washington, New York, and elsewhere).  Among the topics  that will be addressed by the group are special considerations relating to the professional responsibility of the government lawyer practicing in the field of international law; special features of government practice; the role of foreign ministry legal advisers in the development of international law; and the role of justice ministry lawyers in the development of international law by national courts.  The Interest Group intends to pursue these and other issues through an online discussion forum, occasional programs at ASIL headquarters (Tillar House) and other locations, and a session during ASIL’s Annual Meeting.  Membership in the Interest Group is open to all.
