A Victory for Freedom and Democracy: 25 Years after the Fall of the Iron Curtain

Description:

On November 9, 1989, people of East and West Berlin exuberantly embraced: that memorable Thursday evening ended decades of separation, not just of the city, but also in the political and social life of Eastern and Western Europe. Even today, the fall of the Berlin Wall resonates as a dramatic political change. Join this teleconference on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall to engage in a discussion of its current legal and geo-political significance with distinguished speakers, who will provide insights as diplomats, historians, lawyers, and political scientists, and share their personal experiences in these developments.

  • Karsten Jung, research associate, Institute for Political Science and Sociology, University of Bonn
  • Wolfgang Mueller, deputy director, Institute for Modern and Contemporary Historical Research, Austrian Academy of Sciences
