International Trade Research and Resources

Description:

Due to the increased focus on international trade, it is essential for exporters, legal and business professionals, practitioners, and academics to acquire skills in international trade research.  This instructional session provides an overview of the array of international trade laws with a focus on developing strategies for researching key issues.  Attendees will participate in a hands-on research exercise, in order to learn how to effectively locate and utilize commentaries, treaties and agreements, and arbitral decisions.  In addition to the instructional and hands-on components, participants will also receive a substantive Resource List highlighting foreign and international trade materials held at LA Law Library.

Neel Agrawal, the class instructor, is the Librarian for Global Law at the LA Law Library.  He provides research and reference assistance on foreign and international law, teaches courses to the legal community and the public, and manages one of the world’s premier collections of global law.  Neel received an M.L.I.S. with a Special Certificate in Law Librarianship from the University of Washington, as well as law and undergraduate degrees from Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI.  He also worked at the National American Civil Liberties Union.
